Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
1. Who we are
MENDEVO ("we", "us", "our") provides PC repairs, upgrades and IT support to customers across Cape Town's Northern Suburbs. For the purposes of POPIA, MENDEVO is the "responsible party" for the personal information described in this policy.
You can contact us about privacy matters at support@mendevo.co.za or 076 694 4455.
2. What personal information we collect
When you contact us — by WhatsApp, phone, email, or through this website — we may collect:
- Your name and contact details (phone number, email address, WhatsApp number)
- Details about your device and the fault or service you need help with
- Your physical address, where relevant to arranging a repair or collection
- Any other information you choose to share with us in the course of the conversation
We do not knowingly collect special personal information (e.g. health, biometric, or similarly sensitive data) or information relating to children, and we ask that you don't share such information with us unless it's strictly necessary for the service you're requesting.
3. How we use your information
We collect and process your personal information to:
- Respond to enquiries and provide quotes
- Carry out the repair, upgrade, or IT support service you've requested
- Communicate with you about the status of your device or job
- Handle invoicing and payment
- Keep records we're legally required to keep (e.g. for tax purposes)
Our legal basis for processing is that it is necessary to perform a service you've requested, and/or that you have given us your consent by contacting us directly.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with:
- WhatsApp / Meta Platforms, Inc. — if you contact us via WhatsApp, your messages are carried over WhatsApp's platform and subject to WhatsApp's own Privacy Policy.
- Parts suppliers or couriers, only where necessary to source a component or deliver a device back to you.
- Legal or regulatory bodies, where required by law (e.g. SARS, law enforcement with a valid request).
5. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services and to meet our legal and accounting obligations (financial records are typically retained for 5 years, in line with South African tax requirements). After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.
6. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data protected.
7. Cookies and this website
This website does not currently use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies. It does load two third-party resources that may involve Google setting cookies or processing your IP address on their end, independent of us:
- Google Fonts, used to display the site's typography
- Google Maps, embedded to show our service area
If we introduce analytics or marketing cookies in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent via the banner shown on this site before any such cookies are set.
8. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct or update inaccurate information
- Ask us to delete your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations
- Object to how we process your information, or withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe we have not handled your information properly
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@mendevo.co.za.
